UPDATE ON COVID-19 (March 3rd):
We share your concern about the recent escalation in newly detected cases of Covid-19 around the world and as we inch closer to the MY Balboa Weekend, we are monitoring the situation closely. Here in Malaysia, there have been 29 confirmed cases thus far, out of which 22 have recovered.
We know that many of you may be impacted by travel restrictions, or may want to take extra precautions to avoid unnecessary travel, and/or avoid being around large groups of people until the situation improves. This has of course affected our event as well and we would like to assure you that we are taking proactive steps to address your concerns.
*𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐒*
In line with international travel restrictions and to reduce the risk of exposure among participants, the event is now closed to the following groups:
• If you have visited mainland China, Iran, or Italy in the last 14 days leading up to the MY Balboa Weekend
• If you are from or have visited Daegu city and Cheongdo county in South Korea in the last 14 days leading up to the MY Balboa Weekend
• If you feel sick, or have a fever, cough, or experience breathing difficulty in the last 14 days leading up to the MY Balboa Weekend
• If you have been in contact with anyone who has travelled to the above-mentioned areas or have been sick in the last 14 days leading up to Weekend
Please use your best judgement and err on side of caution in case that you live in or have travelled to infected areas (in addition to those listed above), have contact with a community that has been highly impacted (or smaller, lesser known impacted clusters).
At any time until the end of the Weekend, the MY Balboa team reserves the right to turn away participants if we feel a high risk of exposure is posed to others. In such an event, the participant will be entitled to a prorated refund based on our updated refund policy.
*𝐑𝐄𝐅𝐔𝐍𝐃 𝐏𝐎𝐋𝐈𝐂𝐘*
In light of the above-mentioned event restrictions, we are adjusting our cancellation/refund policy. If you cannot attend:
• You can choose to resell your ticket to another person of the same role. It is your sole responsibility to inform us with the new dancer's details by March 18th, 2020.
• Otherwise, if you wish to get a refund, you will receive 40% of the total ticket price paid upon request, while 15% will be used to cover committed cost/charges and 45% will be placed in a credit shell that can be applied to any MY Balboa or Swing2Places event in the next 18 months.
*𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐔𝐏𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐒*
We do not anticipate any travel restrictions for Olga and Andreas since Australia and Malaysia are still minimally impacted. However, Robin and Mirae are more likely to be impacted by travel restrictions imposed by Korea/Malaysia. If our Korean instructors are unable to join us, we will have local instructors conduct the Crash Course and Level Up tracks instead.
With this in mind, we have reshuffled the schedule slightly. However, all participants will still be entitled to the minimum hours of classes advertised during registration.
• Track A/B will have at least 5 hours of classes each, 2 hours of evening open classes, and 3 socials.
• Crash Course will have 4 hours of classes, 1 class of slow-balboa with Olga/Andreas, 1 taster class on Friday and 3 socials.
• Level-up includes everything in Crash Course as well as 2 level-up classes.
*𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐘 𝐒𝐀𝐅𝐄*
We will provide hand sanitiser at our event and we encourage good hygiene practices at all times. However, we wish to remind our participants that 𝐛𝐲 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐲 𝐁𝐚𝐥𝐛𝐨𝐚 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤𝐞𝐧𝐝, 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐤 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐬, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐮𝐞, 𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐮𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐤 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞.
Our recommendations for everyone include:
• Get a good night's sleep. When you are well rested, you are less likely to fall sick.
• If you have an urge to cough/sneeze and you do not have a tissue with you, cough/sneeze into your elbow and clean yourself thereafter. If you are using a tissue, throw the tissue into a bin and immediately wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds; try singing happy birthday to yourself as a time guide!
• Wash your hands regularly, especially after using the bathroom and before eating.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth before washing your hands. We tend to wipe away sweat when dancing, so be aware of your habits. If needed, take a break between dances.
• Use alcohol-based sanitiser as needed.
